Background
Customers usually only see the dirt on the outside. But as parents ourselves working in the laundry business, we knew it wasn't that simple. After removing the black outer seat cover, sure enough, the white foam inside had gone moldy.
A Moldy Car Seat

Our Process
- First, we get rid of the mold at its roots. Besides a dedicated cleaning solution, we use squeezing and pressure to drive the mold out from the front and back, repeating several times to make sure it's all gone.
- Next, we saturate the whole car seat foam with a certified baby-grade anti-mold and antibacterial agent to keep mold from growing back and protect the little ones who are our future.
- Once everything checks out, we reassemble it.
This was just one of the seat pads. We then repeat the process on the other parts until the whole car seat is clean.
FAQ
Q: Why does the foam inside a car seat get moldy?
A: Mold in car seat foam mainly comes from moisture getting in and not drying out completely. Sweat, spilled drinks, leaks in the car or not drying enough after washing can all leave water trapped in the pores of the foam. The outer cover slows drying inside, and constant dampness plus organic matter like dust and skin flakes gives mold what it needs to grow. So a surface that feels dry doesn't mean the inside is dry. The key to preventing mold is removing the source of moisture, clearing away dirt and making sure the inner layers dry fully. If you know your child has made a mess on the seat, we suggest sending it for cleaning during a stretch when you're not going out much. Don't leave our little treasures sitting in that environment.
