Dye Transfer Removal on Clothing

The customer washed this jacket at home and it came out like this, for reasons they couldn't explain. It took us quite a while to treat.

After treatment, about 80% of the staining was gone. There was also a large stained area on the back that we didn't photograph (that was resolved too). A small part around the collar remained.

This kind of pigment can't be removed at room temperature by treating it like an ordinary stain, so the temperature has to be adjusted. Up close, you can still see one or two traces of dye (see photos).

We're not sure what caused it, but the dye may have bled from the black print on the garment. That meant we had to keep working around the black print the whole time. At a glance it looks fine, and it should be ready to wear out again.
