FAQ

Can long down jackets from brands like Moncler and Herno be wet cleaned?

Physically, yes, and wet cleaning removes sweat stains and odors more effectively. But some brands' care terms require dry cleaning, and machine washing may affect your warranty rights. At least one brand is known to state explicitly that machine washing voids the warranty.

At pickup we check the brand's current terms and lay out the two options, cleaning results versus keeping the warranty intact, for you to decide. Terms change over the years; we go by the official version that is current when we check.

After cleaning, the hem is puffy but the upper body is flat. Was it ruined?

It wasn't ruined; this is down migration. The vertical baffles on long jackets are often more than 60 cm long, and during washing the down slides down and piles up along them. If the down isn't pushed back along each whole baffle during drying, it sets at the hem once dry.

This can be fixed, but only by going through the full re-wetting and section-by-section redistribution process again, not by just patting it. Once the jacket has dried and the down has set, patting alone won't work.

How often should a luxury down jacket be cleaned?

Generally once a season, and always before you put it away for the season.

But long jackets have an extra reason: the whole hem constantly touches seats, car doors and puddles on rainy days, so dirt builds up much faster than on short jackets. If you sit for long periods on your commute or drive often, consider a spot clean mid-season instead of a full cleaning.

Can you clean just the hem or just the collar?

We need to tell you in advance: spot cleaning may leave color differences or water-mark edges, especially on dark and plain fabrics. We assess the risk at pickup and let you know; if the risk looks high, we'll recommend cleaning the whole jacket.

How do you handle real fur collars? Will they be damaged?

Detachable fur collars are always removed and treated separately, never in the same machine as the jacket. Fur and down need completely different procedures, and washing them together would inevitably cause damage.

Non-detachable fur collars carry a higher risk and affect how we handle the whole jacket, so please be sure to tell us at pickup.

Will it be less warm after cleaning?

Not if it's done correctly, and it's usually puffier than before. Once the down is completely dry and has recovered, the jacket comes out not only cleaner but fluffier.

There are two main reasons jackets go flat after cleaning: detergent residue that keeps the down from fully lofting, and clumping caused by a lack of mechanical action during drying. Both are process problems, not damage to the down itself.

Another shop cleaned it and now it's flat. Can it be saved?

In most cases we can assess it. If the flattening was caused by detergent residue or clumping, rewashing and our section-by-section recovery process can usually improve it.

But if the jacket was dried at high heat and the fabric or down was damaged, or felting or melting occurred, that is irreversible. We'll honestly tell you what we can and can't do when we assess it.

Why do luxury long jackets cost more than regular down jackets?

The difference comes from two kinds of real work:

Process: luxury items go through a four-stage process (identify and record, check the warranty, explain the risks, work only after you confirm), with the whole jacket photographed from several angles and handled individually by one person.

Labor time: the whole hem of a long jacket needs separate pre-treatment, pressed areas on the back need extra recovery work, and because the baffles are long, redistribution passes and drying time are greater than for short jackets.

The assessment itself is free; after we quote, you decide whether to go ahead.

How long does it take? Can you do a rush job?

Getting down completely dry may take one to three hours of tumble drying, with repeated checks until there are no clumps. Long jackets take even longer because of the long baffles and larger amount of down.

This step can't be rushed: if a jacket is returned before it's completely dry, the remaining moisture causes odors and mildew spots. We don't accept rush jobs that cut drying short.

Can you add a water-repellent treatment at the same time?

Yes, but we don't add it by default. After cleaning, we first check the fabric's water repellency and only quote if it's really needed. In many cases, correct cleaning and heat treatment are enough to restore the original performance without any extra treatment.

Thank you for trusting us. To make sure your clothes and valuables get proper care and to protect both sides, please read the following notes carefully before sending items for cleaning:

1. Please check before sending items (basis of our disclaimer)

Empty all pockets:Please check pockets carefully before handing over items. We are not responsible for storing or compensating for cash, IDs, jewelry, earphones, receipts or other valuables left behind. If we find anything, we will keep it safe and return it, but please check to avoid unnecessary disputes.

Tell us about existing flaws:If a garment already has tears, loose seams, dye stains, fading, loose buttons, heavy yellowing or moth holes, please tell the counter staff when you drop it off, or let us know on LINE.

Valuable or high-end items (e.g. Chanel/Hermès bags, high-end leather, tailored suits): we recommend our premium care service (Luxury Item Care). Please check the item's current condition together with our staff in store or discuss it online (e.g. leather wear, oxidized hardware), and have it noted on the cleaning ticket.

2. Cleaning and stain removal results (reasonable expectations)

About difficult stains:For sweat, blood, ink, juice, paint, old yellow stains or mildew, we do our best with professional enzymes and stain removers on the affected area. If a stain is very old, or the fibers have already deteriorated or taken on the color, we cannot promise it will come out completely.

Special materials:

  • Unstable or non-colorfast dyes: if a garment's dye is not colorfast, it may fade slightly after cleaning.
  • Coatings / PU faux leather / waterproof seam tape: these materials have a limited lifespan (usually 2–3 years) and may peel or lose seam tape during cleaning due to hydrolysis and aging. If peeling has already started, it will usually get worse after cleaning, so please keep this in mind.

3. Storage of uncollected items

Collect on time:When your items are ready, we will send you a text message. Please collect them with your claim ticket within 30 days of the notice, or contact us to arrange delivery.

Late storage fee:From day 31, a storage fee of NT$10–20 per item per day applies to uncollected items (up to 3 months).

Abandonment of ownership:Items not collected more than 6 months after the notice date are considered abandoned by the customer. We may recycle, donate or otherwise dispose of them to free up storage space, and the customer may not object or claim compensation.

4. Checking items at pickup and handling disputes

Check on the spot:When collecting, please check on the spot that the number of items and accessories (e.g. belts, fur collars, liners) are complete, and check the cleaning quality.

Re-cleaning window:If you find an item not fully clean or poorly pressed, bring it back to the shop with your receipt within 3 days of pickup (with our laundry tag still attached and unworn), and we will redo it free of charge.

5. Compensation for loss or damage

We carry liability insurance. If a garment is seriously damaged, deformed or lost due to improper cleaning on our part, compensation follows the Ministry of Economic Affairs' "Mandatory and Prohibited Provisions for Standard Laundry Service Contracts":

  • Regular garments: compensation is a multiple of the item's cleaning price (usually capped at 5 to 20 times, depending on depreciation).
  • Valuable items without a declared value: if the value was not declared in advance and the item did not go through our premium care process, total compensation is capped (e.g. no more than NT$5,000–10,000).

Notes on Special Services

1. Down comforters / large bedding
Please check the bedding's care label when you buy it. Some natural silk and pure wool comforters are dry clean only or must not be washed. We never vacuum-compress animal fibers, to avoid physical damage to fibers and feather quills (down itself can be compressed).

2. Pet items
For hygiene, please remove loose hair and waste from pet clothing and beds before sending them in. We wash pet items separately using pet-specific disinfectant and dedicated machines, so you can send them with peace of mind.
