Beige Shoe Tongue: Color Transfer Removed
A beige shoe tongue stained by dye transfer. Heavily dyed shoes bleed easily; this well-kept pair cleaned up well.

Some shoes, leather ones for example, are dyed with a higher concentration of dye to make the color look good, or the material wasn't properly color-fixed.
That makes color transfer very likely. The stitching can even turn red after getting caught in the rain or touching water.
Shoes like these aren't easy to care for. The case in the photos was a lucky one: the owner had looked after them well and brought them in before they got very dirty. Otherwise, the results probably wouldn't have been this good.
