Item description
LONG DOWN JACKET CARE
Long Down Jackets | Careful Cleaning and Loft Restoration
A long down jacket isn't just "longer". Hem soiling, shifting fill, larger down compartments and longer drying time all need more careful handling than a regular short down jacket.
- Care-label reading
- Extra hem treatment
- Low-agitation cleaning
- Thorough rinsing
- Drying in stages
- Down redistribution
Flat Down After Washing Doesn't Necessarily Mean It's Ruined
Down keeps you warm mainly through the large amount of air trapped when the down clusters open up. When down absorbs water, it naturally clumps and sticks together for a while, so it looks much flatter than before.
Add detergent residue, incomplete drying and built-up skin oils and dirt, and the down clumps even more easily, with a clear loss of loft.
As long as the down hasn't suffered irreversible damage from high heat, aging, tears or lost fill,
many cases of clumping, uneven fill or reduced loft after washing can still be reworked and improved.
If your down jacket has clumps or thin spots after you washed it yourself, or after another shop cleaned it, we can check and assess it too.
Long Down Jackets Bring a Few Extra Challenges
01 | Hem Soiling
The hem of a long jacket easily touches seats, car doors, shoes and wet ground on rainy days. It's usually dirtier than the rest of the jacket, so it gets a separate check and pre-treatment.
02 | Compression from Sitting
The back panel and seat area are pressed for long periods when you sit, so the down there can pack down or spread unevenly. We check these areas closely when reshaping.
03 | Shifting Fill
The down compartments in a long jacket cover larger areas. Wet down can gather in one spot during washing and drying, so it has to be redistributed again and again as it dries.
We Read the Care Label, and We Look at the Jacket Itself
Different brands, and even different lines from the same brand, may use different shell fabrics, membranes, down fills and finishes. So we don't apply the same washing method to everything just because it says "down".
- P / F: Professional dry cleaning symbols. The actual process still depends on the symbol and the limits shown below it.
- W: Professional wet cleaning, which is not the same as home washing.
- Washtub symbol: Home washing conditions. Temperature and agitation still have to be read from the full symbol.
- Bar under a symbol: Agitation needs to be reduced, using a gentle or very gentle process.
When we decide, we look at everything together: the care label, shell fabric, down fill, coatings, membranes, mixed materials, accessories and stains.
If the care label's limits conflict with what the stains need, we'll explain the situation and the possible risks before treatment, and then decide how to proceed.
Our Long Down Jacket Cleaning Process
- Check at pickup: We check the care label, shell fabric, down condition, stitching, zippers, damage, leaking down, coatings, fur collar and any special accessories.
- Stain pre-treatment: The collar, cuffs, pocket edges and hem are treated area by area, based on how dirty they are. The hem of a long jacket gets its own check and isn't automatically given the same treatment strength as other areas.
- Choosing the right cleaning process: Based on the care label and the jacket's construction, we control temperature, detergent, time, load size and agitation to lower the risk of over-stressing the shell fabric, seams and down compartments.
- Detergent chosen by material: We use a detergent suited to the garment and its down construction, and avoid fabric softener, strong alkalis, strong oxidizers and chlorine bleach that don't suit the garment.
- Thorough rinsing: With down items we pay special attention to detergent residue and add rinses when needed, reducing the effect of residue on feel and loft.
- Spin adjusted to weight: Down gets heavier when it absorbs water. We adjust spinning to the jacket's thickness, weight and construction, balancing water removal against mechanical stress.
- Drying in stages and redistributing the down: While a long down jacket dries, every compartment needs to be checked again and again, breaking up and spreading out clumped down so the fill gradually evens out.
- Confirming it's dry: We don't judge it done by time alone. We make sure the inside is fully dry with no obvious damp clumps, and check that the down is evenly distributed.
Dry Cleaning or Washing? Not a Fixed Choice
Professional Dry Cleaning
Works well on some oily soils. Water-based stains such as sweat or drinks usually also need suitable spot pre-treatment, depending on the fabric.
Washing / Professional Wet Cleaning
Some down and technical garments suit a water-based cleaning process, but we still have to check the shell fabric, coatings, bonded construction, accessories and care-label limits.
We Don't Assume Down Must Be Cleaned One Way
What really matters is this particular garment's care label, materials, construction and soiling. Even among down jackets, different styles may need completely different treatment.
Taped Seams, Bonded Fabrics and Technical Down Need Special Care
Some down jackets aren't simply sewn; they use taped seams, bonded membranes or laminated fabrics. These materials are affected by time, wear, humidity, heat, detergents and cleaning methods.
If the adhesive layer has already aged, it may come unglued, bubble, separate or lose its bond. Cleaning isn't necessarily the only cause; sometimes it just makes existing aging more visible.
So with taped seams or special bonded construction, we check the care label and the jacket's current condition before deciding how to treat it.
What We Don't Do with Down
- We don't assume one washing method for everything just because it's down.
- We don't ignore care labels or special material limits.
- We don't wash it with clothes that shouldn't be washed together.
- We don't use overly strong agitation on delicate down.
- We don't rely on long hanging alone and hope clumped down recovers by itself.
- We don't end the process early, before the inside is fully dry, just to rush a job.
Before You Send It: Please Tell Us If Your Jacket Has
- A real fur collar
- Leather or suede panels
- A waterproof or windproof membrane
- Taped seams, bonded fabric or a special coating
- Existing tears, loose seams or leaking down
- Been treated with bleach or strong stain removers at home
- Been tumble dried at high heat
- Clumped badly after a previous cleaning
- A luxury brand label or special warranty terms
Detachable fur collars, leather accessories and special materials are removed and assessed separately by material, not put through the same process as the down jacket.
Care After Pickup
- Air it out after wearing: Let sweat and moisture escape before putting it back in the closet.
- Don't pull out down that pokes through: Pulling it out can enlarge the gaps in the fabric. Gently work the down back in from the inside.
- Avoid long periods under heavy pressure: For long-term storage, vacuum compression isn't recommended. Let the down stay in its natural state as much as possible.
- Clean it before storing it for the season: Before storing, make sure the jacket and the down inside are completely dry, and keep it in a dry, well-ventilated place.
The Hard Part of Down Usually Isn't the Washing, It's What Comes After
Getting it clean is only one part. Whether rinsing is complete, whether the down clumps, whether drying is thorough, and whether the fill is evenly redistributed are what directly affect the finished loft and how it feels to wear.
Long down jackets in particular have many compartments, a long body and a lot of water weight, so reshaping and drying take more time. We don't measure "done" by how short we can make the job.
Not Sure If Your Down Jacket Can Be Cleaned?
Send us photos of "the front of the jacket + the care label + where the stains are", and we can give you an initial assessment.
Cleaned the right way, down can regain its loft.

Read Before Ordering: Care Notes & TermsTap to expand
Thank you for trusting us. To make sure your clothes and valuables get proper care and to protect both sides, please read the following notes carefully before sending items for cleaning:
1. Please check before sending items (basis of our disclaimer)
Empty all pockets:Please check pockets carefully before handing over items. We are not responsible for storing or compensating for cash, IDs, jewelry, earphones, receipts or other valuables left behind. If we find anything, we will keep it safe and return it, but please check to avoid unnecessary disputes.
Tell us about existing flaws:If a garment already has tears, loose seams, dye stains, fading, loose buttons, heavy yellowing or moth holes, please tell the counter staff when you drop it off, or let us know on LINE.
Valuable or high-end items (e.g. Chanel/Hermès bags, high-end leather, tailored suits): we recommend our premium care service (Luxury Item Care). Please check the item's current condition together with our staff in store or discuss it online (e.g. leather wear, oxidized hardware), and have it noted on the cleaning ticket.
2. Cleaning and stain removal results (reasonable expectations)
About difficult stains:For sweat, blood, ink, juice, paint, old yellow stains or mildew, we do our best with professional enzymes and stain removers on the affected area. If a stain is very old, or the fibers have already deteriorated or taken on the color, we cannot promise it will come out completely.
Special materials:
- Unstable or non-colorfast dyes: if a garment's dye is not colorfast, it may fade slightly after cleaning.
- Coatings / PU faux leather / waterproof seam tape: these materials have a limited lifespan (usually 2–3 years) and may peel or lose seam tape during cleaning due to hydrolysis and aging. If peeling has already started, it will usually get worse after cleaning, so please keep this in mind.
3. Storage of uncollected items
Collect on time:When your items are ready, we will send you a text message. Please collect them with your claim ticket within 30 days of the notice, or contact us to arrange delivery.
Late storage fee:From day 31, a storage fee of NT$10–20 per item per day applies to uncollected items (up to 3 months).
Abandonment of ownership:Items not collected more than 6 months after the notice date are considered abandoned by the customer. We may recycle, donate or otherwise dispose of them to free up storage space, and the customer may not object or claim compensation.
4. Checking items at pickup and handling disputes
Check on the spot:When collecting, please check on the spot that the number of items and accessories (e.g. belts, fur collars, liners) are complete, and check the cleaning quality.
Re-cleaning window:If you find an item not fully clean or poorly pressed, bring it back to the shop with your receipt within 3 days of pickup (with our laundry tag still attached and unworn), and we will redo it free of charge.
5. Compensation for loss or damage
We carry liability insurance. If a garment is seriously damaged, deformed or lost due to improper cleaning on our part, compensation follows the Ministry of Economic Affairs' "Mandatory and Prohibited Provisions for Standard Laundry Service Contracts":
- Regular garments: compensation is a multiple of the item's cleaning price (usually capped at 5 to 20 times, depending on depreciation).
- Valuable items without a declared value: if the value was not declared in advance and the item did not go through our premium care process, total compensation is capped (e.g. no more than NT$5,000–10,000).
Notes on Special Services
1. Down comforters / large bedding
Please check the bedding's care label when you buy it. Some natural silk and pure wool comforters are dry clean only or must not be washed. We never vacuum-compress animal fibers, to avoid physical damage to fibers and feather quills (down itself can be compressed).
2. Pet items
For hygiene, please remove loose hair and waste from pet clothing and beds before sending them in. We wash pet items separately using pet-specific disinfectant and dedicated machines, so you can send them with peace of mind.
